NOT A BRIDGE!
WHAT IS IT?
The bridge (or should it be called tunnel) goes under water to allow movement of ships.
Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel is the 4.6 mile-long (7.4 km) Hampton Roads crossing for Interstate 664. It is a four-lane bridge-tunnel comprised of bridges, trestles, man-made islands, and tunnels under a portion of the Hampton Roads harbor where the James, Nansemond, and Elizabeth Rivers come together in South Hampton Roads, in the southeastern portion of Virginia in the United States.
Truly a marvelous piece of engineering!

That’s weird.
Fabulous bridge/tunnel combination. Have you seen the Millau Viaduct in France, just finished this year, 2.5km long and taller than the Eiffel Tower at 336.4 metres high? Designed in the UK and built by the French, it is the tallest bridge in the world by a country mile. Typing Millau in Google should bring you details if you don’t already know them.
