  • A BOY & HIS DOG!

Someone e-mailed this picture to me and I wanted to share it!

  • WHEN TREES AND WIRES MEET

Our next door neighbors have their TV cable and telephone wires come across our backyard from a pole in the rear corner of our property and pass through the branches of one of our large pine trees.  The wires are about twenty feet above our yard and have never caused any problems.

After our recent snow and ice storm, the telephone cable was hanging close enough to the ground to be able to touch it.  The wind and the weight of the branches against the telephone wire had caused it to come unattached from their house and it was just laying across their roof and sagging in our yard.

I showed our neighbor the wire, but he said everything was working ok.  When I examined the wire, it was running right through one of the branches.  The years of the cable and branch being in contact had caused the branch to grow around the cable and never affected his telephone service.

The wire went in here ...

    and came out here!

  • PATIENCE

  • A FULL HOUSE BEATS A PAIR!

Our daughter and family had to move out of their house last November.  They are temporarily borrowing a neighbor's house who spend their winters in Florida.  It's a small two bedroom that's not nearly large enough for five people and three dogs.

So, we have been living with a grandson and two extra dogs since Thanksgiving.  It's quite a change from just the two of us and a single (but large) dog living in our empty nester home.

I took some pictures of Josie our pyr enjoying the back yard with Allie the chocolate labrador and Haley the border collie.

Here's all three dogs interested in something behind the garage.

Josie and Haley playing in the snow.  Generally, Josie spins and jumps while Haley runs circles around her.

Haley believes the other dogs are her flock and tries to herd them.

Allie the lab has spent most of her years being chained and is having a good time just running and barking at the birds in the trees and bushes.

Josie enjoys the snow so much, she could eat a whole table full between meals.

  • SNOWY NEW YEAR

I awoke this morning to see about four inches of snow.  It may look spectacular when you look out the window, but it's cold outside and about 200 feet of driveway to clear.  What a glorious tribute to the new year. Thank God for snowblowers.

View from the front.  Our house has a unique tile roof  with a steep pitch.

View from the back.  Our four season porch has a gas heat stove and gives us a wonderful view of the back yard.

This evergreen trees in the back yard are loaded with snow and almost touch the ground.

Our flower garden in the back yard has a new look.
