JAY LENO’S GARAGE
T Boone Pickens is advocating the use of CNG (compressed natural gas) as a short term solution to the gas crisis. I considered making a change and switching to CNG, but there are some roadblocks.
First is the availabilty of cars that run on CNG. There is only one manufacturer, but they are sold out and there is a waiting list. There is the option of converting gasoline vehicles to natural gas, but it’s expensive and there is probably no way to justify the cost with the difference in fuel prices.
Second is the availability of fuel. There are 17 CNG refueling stations in the entire state of Illinois. None of them are available to the public. The only way to refuel in Illinois is to have a personal refueling station at your house.
This video was interesting and educational.

We need to do something… this is as good a solution as any other I’ve seen/heard.
I wouldn’t, however, but a Japmobile if it ran on air.
Our next door nabor has a diesel pick up…he goes to our major grocery store twice a wk. and they give him the fryer oil that has been used in their deli and oriental express depts. He brings it home and in this contraption he has, turns it into fuel for his pick up. He makes it for little of nothing and it’s 5 bucks a gallon up here in Alaska for diesel! He has fine tuned his equipment and procedure and has made enough of it that he uses it to heat his house now. Well…that and from time to time wood heat. Crafty folks out there trying to beat this energy crunch! Good luck on your own hunt for it. We just cut back on our running around. Have a great week end!
Thanks for visiting my site. Come back any time. Enjoyed the pics of you and the dog bath! Our Golden Retriever needs a bath I’m sure but everytime he is around the pond or creek he is in there so hopefully it helps clean him. I can’t do it anymore and think they want at least 50.00 to do it at the vet.
