DID YOU KNOW?
For all the time I’ve been driving you would think I should have noticed the little secret on my dashboard that was staring me in the face, but I didn’t…and I bet you didn’t either…
Have you ever rented or borrowed a car and when arriving at the gas station wondered…mmm, which side is the gas filler cap? My normal solution was to stick my head out the window, strain my neck and look, try to see in the side mirrors or even get out of the car! Well, I’m going to share a little secret.
If you look at your gas gauge, you will see a small icon of a gas pump ? The handle of the gas pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the gas pump? If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left? If your tank is on the right, the handle will be on the right (see photo). Sometimes the pump will have an arrow pointing to the correct side. It’s that simple!

Don’t feel dumb, just go out and share the world’s best kept auto secret with your friends.

Oh… you have GOT to be kidding! Why oh why didn’t anyone ever mention this before?!?!? Would’ve saved me a lot of grief in the past!
Of course, now you know I have to check every car I have access to and see if it’s so, lol.
Damn it. Snopes says it ain’t so… http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/icon.asp
I was really, really hoping it was…
Crap! Now I feel stupid. Before I posted this, I checked our two cars. Both cars fill on the left or driver’s side.
Both cars had the pump icon with the hose on the right, but had an arrow to the left of the pump pointing to the left.
Hey thanks for coming to my site and visiting. Dizzy is one of the best dogs in the world. She is 10 now and we, well she adopted us. She searched the neighborhood over for 2 weeks and finally chose us, she wouldn’t leave our front porch. Been with us for 8 years and she understands every word you say. Do research on Great Pyrnesees and you will know how smart they are. SO we went and got a male Great Pyr – he is 150 lbs of dog that is way too smart for his own good. He opens doors, he is tall enough to take what he wants. I will post more on him later.

They’re smart enough not to do stupid tricks like “roll over” and “fetch”. Josie will roll over on her back to get a tummy rub or fetch anything that’s edible, but she won’t do any trick that she doesn’t see me do myself.
I checked my car and my little gas pump handle is on the wrong side. But… I do have an arrow pointing to the side (left) where the gas cap is. So. I learned something new just the same.
